This past Thursday definitely was not a normal Thursday in the Ciao Bella marketing department! After a week of planning, a 5am morning, and a stalled marketing van, JuicyJ and I headed into the city to support Vespa at their media event at Tavern on the Green. We were more than excited to be sharing our new single serve cups with the media as well as watching everyone take (or attempt to take!) the new Vespas for a spin.
The event began at 9am with a few riders stopping by our cart for a taste of gelato and sorbet to start off their mornings. By afternoon, the summer heat had kicked in and we were burning through our samples! Blood Orange sorbet was definitely a big hit along with Pistachio gelato. Everyone enjoyed having a snack after their spin on the Vespas and we were glad to be able to help the press further enjoy their Vespa experience. Ciao Bella and Vespa are a perfect combination of an on-the-go snack and a convenient and efficient on-the-go product.
The day got even better as JuicyJ and I got to take an orange Vespa out for a spin! It is such a weird feeling to drive one. At first, I was trying to steer it like my car but soon learned that doesn’t work. Michael, the event manager at Vespa, showed me the ins and outs of how to drive one of these scooters. You basically just visualize and look at where you want the scooter to go, your body naturally responds to this visualization, and the Vespa follows. I was a pro in no time! And not only are they easy to drive, but they are cost efficient and easy to maintain.
Being able to help out at such an event is something I never expected to do as an intern. Not only is it a great experience, but it allows me to see other aspects involved in the marketing of Ciao Bella. Now, only if JuicyJ and I can convince the rest of marketing that we need a fleet of Ciao Bella branded Vespas!
